Celebrating connection during Loneliness Awareness Week

A heartfelt thank you to our Summer Party attendees and contributors!

During Loneliness Awareness Week 2023, we were delighted to host a joyous 'Summer Party' event at Windmill Hill City Farm in Bristol. We want to take a moment to give a big shoutout and loads of love to everyone who made this event a huge success. Join us as we spread some gratitude and look back on the incredible power of human connection. 🤗

Loneliness Awareness Week (12th-18th June 2023) is an annual campaign run by Marmalade Trust. We host the summer garden party for members and volunteers of the Marmalade Companions project to come together and meet face-to-face for the first time during the week. It is a celebration combining tea, cake, live music and speeches. Marmalade Companions links people experiencing loneliness (Marmalade Members) up with telephone volunteers for weekly phone calls over 15 weeks.

This event marked a special occasion for members and volunteers of the Marmalade Companions project to come together, forging face-to-face connections for the first time. As we express our gratitude to all those who attended, we also extend our heartfelt appreciation to the individuals and organisations that played a vital role in making this event a memorable success!

First and foremost, we want to express our gratitude to all the attendees who joined us at the Summer Party. Your presence and participation made the event truly special. By coming together, sharing stories, laughter, and companionship, you exemplified the spirit of resilience and community.

We want to say a massive thanks to the individuals who dedicated their time and expertise to ensure the success of the Summer Party. Your contributions were invaluable and deeply appreciated:

  • Jo Woodcock was our fantastic Event Coordinator, who made the event a delightful experience for everyone involved

  • Frank Spencer was on Video Filming and captured the vibrant moments of the Summer Party to share with others

  • Jemma Ridley skillfully captured the essence of the Summer Party through her lens

  • Cakesmiths generously donated delicious cakes, adding a touch of sweetness to the festivities

  • Floriography by Vera provided the most beautiful flowers

  • Windmill Hill City Farm generously provided a free loan of crockery and other equipment, as well as offering a discount on venue hire

  • Tesco Express Totterdown kindly donated of tea, coffee, and milk

We would like to recognise and express our gratitude to Sky and John James Foundation for making this event possible. Your support and partnership have helped us extend our reach, raise awareness, and make a positive impact on individuals' lives affected by loneliness. We are truly grateful.
